Michael Barretto and his Island Blues Band will be performing at a fundraiser/benefit for the Storybook Theatrein Hanapepe.
The upcoming lineup of the Island Blues Band consists of Michael Barretto (Guitar, Lead Vocals); Randy Carnevali (Bass - HBR Jazz Band, Oceana); Dan "the man" Parslow (Guitar, Vocals - Swamp Daddy, Three Bucks); and Ron Rhoades (Drums - the Shakers, the Takeoffs, Blond Boys) and myself. Expect a special guests or two. Ya just never know who's gonna show up when we play.
As you folks probably know, Michael has been involved with the Stroybook Theatre for several years... from salvaging and help rebuilding the structure itself and creating their first website, through fundraising and performances on their behalf. The Peace Garden is the most current project he has been working on with Mark Jeffers and the staff at Storybook. It is dedicated to Senator Sparky Matsunaga and the children of Hawaii. Always the children. It is a wonderful haven of peace and quiet in the heart of Hanapepe town. Replete with an outdoor/open air stage, great sound system and lighting, a fish pond and gazebo ... the garden will easily hold 80 people.
So come on down on Friday Evening, the 27th of March. Enjoy some good Island Blues, some original tunes and standards, and dance the night away with us to the smooth tunes of The Island Blues Band!
